Selling in Galloway
Galloway has its own rules.
Generic Columbus-agent treatment misses what is specific to Galloway: the comp adjustments that matter on these blocks, the school-calendar timing, and the buyer pool that actually shops here. Three things every Galloway seller should know before talking to any agent:
- 1
Galloway homes that show well sell on the first weekend. At this price point the buyer pool is deep and moves fast.
- 2
Buyers priced out of Hilliard land here. Marketing that targets that spillover pool gets stronger offers.
- 3
The price band attracts first-time buyers using financing with appraisal sensitivity. Pricing inside the appraisal range protects the deal.

Life in Galloway
What it is like to live in Galloway.
Galloway is the under-the-radar pick on the west side. It is an unincorporated pocket served by South-Western City Schools, with a lower entry price than Hilliard and, notably, a faster drive to downtown Columbus than Dublin. The median sits around $325K, among the lowest of the covered west-side suburbs, which makes Galloway a landing spot for first-time buyers and for anyone priced out of Hilliard who would rather have a backyard than a brand name. Homes that show well here tend to move on the first weekend.
What sets Galloway apart is the land next door. Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park, more than 7,000 acres, is the largest park in the Metro Parks system and sits on Galloway's doorstep, with a small bison herd living in two prairie pastures. Big and Little Darby Creeks, both State and National Scenic Rivers, run through it for paddling and smallmouth fishing, and Prairie Oaks Metro Park with the Darby Bend Lakes is a few minutes north. The paved Camp Chase Trail runs through Galloway as part of the Ohio to Erie Trail.
The commute is the headline advantage. Galloway is only about 11 miles from downtown Columbus, roughly an 18-minute drive, which beats several pricier suburbs. The tradeoff is the absence of a walkable town center of its own; Galloway is residential and quiet, and you drive to Hilliard or Grove City for a Main Street night out. For buyers who want space, parks, and a short commute over name recognition, Galloway delivers.
Buyers often weigh Galloway against Hilliard. Compare Galloway with Hilliard.
